SWIM
The BIG question is –WILL THERE BE WATER IN JENSEN GROVE TO SWIM??? We are hoping so—and are checking in-flow each day and working with the Mayor of Blackfoot concerning the water levels. We will be sending out correspondence as the event date gets closer on being able to SWIM—or if a PLAN B is needed. Stay tuned! If we are allowed to swim, SPRINT racers will do 1 lap, and OLYMPIC racers will do 2. Be aware that if there is a wind, the reservoir can be choppy! Marine Patrol and kayaks/paddleboards will be on the reservoir for safety.
BIKE
The bike section of the Blackfoot Kicker Triathlon will be a mostly flat course for both the Sprint and Olympic. The SPRINT course will begin with crossing both lanes of traffic onto East Airport Road, then a LEFT turn onto Rose Road, crossing over Interstate 15 and taking the next LEFT turn onto 350 North—then all RIGHT turns from that point on through a loop on country roads and then returning to Jensen Grove on Rose Road, then East Airport Road. The OLYMPIC course will be the same above, except once you turn onto 350 North, you will take a quick LEFT again onto Johnson Road until you hit Tressel Road. There will be all RIGHT turns from this point—and you will do 2 LAPS (turning again onto 350 North) of this country loop. After doing the second loop, you will return on Rose Road to East Airport Road to Jensen Grove.
There will be volunteers and police at all major intersections—Use CAUTION on all corners and watch for gravel, cattle, and random farm sprinklers! There will be a minor AID STATION that will have bottles of water only on the OLYMPIC course, nothing on the SPRINT course. You will be coached on where to dismount your bike and get ready for your run.
RUN
The RUN portion of the Blackfoot Kicker Triathlon will be on the bike/walking path that starts out parallel to I-15. Immediately as you exit the transition area, you will head directly WEST toward I-I5 to the then directly along the Interstate heading NORTH. The SPRINT racers will go to the first billboard. There will be an AID STATION at the turnaround point that will have both water and possibly Gatorade. The OLYMPIC racers will continue on the path and cross one road (Porterville Road) and continue on the path until you 265 North Ruby Road. This will be your turnaround and once again there will be an AID STATION. You will then return on the same path (use caution again on Porterville Road) and return to the transition area. We will have volunteers at the road crossing. Please be nice to other people using the bike/walk path. Run hard…there is a FINISHER MEDAL waiting for you after you pass the FINISH ARCH!
