Olympic Distance Triathlon and Sprint Triathlon

The GREAT SNAKE RIVER TRIATHLON will be held on Saturday, August 10th, 2024, at Snake River Landing in downtown Idaho Falls. This triathlon will include BOTH Sprint & Olympic distances. The best part about this race is the downstream swim in the Snake River!

This race is the second race in a 3-race series TRIFECTA happening in Eastern Idaho—DO THE TRIFECTA in 2024! Tri Peaks Epic Events is the event producer!

Staging of BIKES / TRANSITION AREA will be Saturday morning from 5:30 – 6:45.
An ALL PARTICIPANTS MANDATORY RACE MEETING will be held that morning at 7 am.

We will be taking participants via bus to the swim start for both the Olympic and Sprint distances. We will have a basket for shoes we will return to the transition area from the swim start. These baskets of shoes will be waiting for you at the finish line!

Pickup your TIMING CHIPS in the Transition 2 / Finish Line area between 5:45-6:45 am–place them on your LEFT ANKLE FACING OUT.  Please make sure you have your BODY MARKED prior to the 7 am race meeting!

The GREAT SNAKE RIVER TRIATHLON has 2 TRANSITIONS to set up

  • The BIKE TRANSITION (#1) will be at SOUTH TOURIST PARK— 2800 South Yellowstone Highway, Idaho Falls, ID 83402
  • The SWIM START & RUN TRANSITION (#2) will be at SNAKE RIVER LANDING—981 Pier View Drive (West of BBSI) in Idaho Falls

PLEASE PLAN ADDITIONAL TIME TO SETUP BOTH TRANSITION AREAS!

Event Categories

There will be the following 6 categories in the SPRINT division of the race. There will be trophies for the OVERALL WINNER, and metal awards for both 1st and 2nd place in each of the categories for each division, for both men and women. Any category changes for participants must be handled by 12 pm Friday in order to get the information to the timing company.

  • YOUTH – 19 YRS OLD
  • AGE 20-29
  • AGE 30-39
  • AGE 40-49
  • AGE 50-59
  • AGE 60+

Awards

Stick around after the race as we will have an award presentation!  Trophy’s will be awarded to the overall SPRINT & OLYMPIC division winners and 2nd place, and medals to the 1st and 2nd place finishers in each category for both male and female.  There will also be some other great prizes and swag given away plus and additional trophy for the MICHAEL HAYES INSPIRATIONAL AWARD.  Do not miss this ceremony!

Here are the 3 areas of VOLUNTEERING—

  1. THURSDAY 2-4 PM
    PACKET PUT TOGETHER—meet at the IDAHO INNOVATION CENTER at 2300 N. Yellowstone Highway in Idaho Falls
  2. FRIDAY 1-7 PM
    TRANSITIONS/FINISH LINE SETUP—meet at SOUTH TOURIST PARK (2800 S. Yellowstone Highway) or at SNAKE RIVER LANDING (981 Pier View Drive in Snake River Landing)
  3. SATURDAY 6 AM – 12 PM
    the GREAT SNAKE RIVER TRIATHLON—-meet at Transition #2 (981 Pier View Drive in Snake River Landing)—we will have a meeting at 6:30 am–we could use all people possible to mark our athlethes bodies with their race info starting at 5:30-6 if you can come early—but for sure need everyone there NO LATER THAN 6:30 AM—we will have VOLUNTEER SHIRTS AND PROTECTIVE VESTS for everyone—you will receive your course assignment for the race at this time.

This race has some VERY, VERY CHALLENGING corners twists and turns! OUR VOLUNTEERS ARE THE KEY TO OUR RACERS FINISHING THE RACE SAFE….

The volunteers purpose is 2-FOLD—-RACER SAFETY AND RACER ENCOURAGEMENT!

Here is our BIGGEST FAVOR—-IF FOR SOME REASON YOU ARE UNABLE TO MAKE IT, YOU NEED TO NOTIFY US BY 5 PM FRIDAY—-NOT SHOWING UP WILL BE EXTREMELY DETRIMENTAL TO OUR RACE SUCCESS.
